Canon Shootout – WHC 2013
Wanaka, New Zealand (3 May, 2013) – Photographers and filmers with a love for the mountains, a taste for adrenaline and a passion for adventure are invited to join the elite level skiers and snowboarders gathering in Wanaka this August for the World Heli Challenge.
Applications are now open to photographers and filmers for the 2013 Canon Shootout staged during the World Heli Challenge in Wanaka New Zealand from 4 – 22nd August.
The Canon Shootout launched in 2011 as part of the World Heli Challenge and is as fiercely contested as the on-snow competition. The Shootout attracts an international line up of talented action filmers and photographers who follow the athletes and create stunning short films and photos capturing the competition, adventure, local culture, scenery and stories surrounding the event. Just five slots are available for filmers and five for photographers in the chase for the Shootout cash and prizes.
World Heli Challenge founder and director Tony Harrington is an internationally acclaimed snow and surf photographer and created the “Shootout” to address the growing demand of photographers and filmers wanting to be part of the unique heli-accessed ski and snowboard competition and media clamouring for images and footage. “The World Heli Challenge is a stunning and inspiring spectacle and the Shootout brings this to audiences right around the globe. The ‘shooters’ work just as hard as the athletes and are some of the best in the world at capturing these incredible moments.”
The Canon Shootout challenges participating photographers and filmers to weave in different aspects of the World Heli Challenge in their images and clips and has specific prize categories including local lifestyle, scenery and best action shots from the competition days.
