Fly day set for Monday 12 August 2013
11 Aug, 2013
Lake Wanaka, NZ (Sunday, 11 August, 2013) – Anticipation is building amongst the 2013 World Heli Challenge athletes and crew who are on standby for the first of two heli-accessed competition days tomorrow (Monday, 12 August). The freestyle competition is slated to take place on Mt Turner in the Wilkin Valley for the first time.
There’s been no rest for the weary…while waiting for the weather gods to deliver, the athletes and crew have been filling their days with a slew of adrenaline filled activities such as surfing the Hawea River Wave, Heli Olympics (where the athletes and crew become pilots of their own helicopters), mountain biking, paint-balling, frisbee golf, some warm up turns at Treble Cone, barbecues at the lake and a rockin’ Retro Party at Lone Star.
Tonight everyone will be “chillaxing” at Ruby’s Cinema while checking out the highlights from last year’s competition. World Heli Challenge, the Movie screens at 5pm and 7pm. Public are more than welcome to attend. Tickets are $14.50 and include your first beer.
