Canon Shootout: Ross and Rundle deliver the images

The World Heli Challenge is a visual overload.  The skiers and snowboarders put on a spectacular show against a simply jaw-dropping backdrop up in the alpine playground surrounding Aoraki Mt Cook in New Zealand. It would be madness not to capture it all in photographs.

That is the “Challenge” that two talented photographers took on in this year’s Canon Shootout.

Kit Rundle from Mt Buller Australia and Mickey Ross from Wanaka in New Zealand followed their assigned World Heli Challenge teams throughout the gruelling 9 days of the event and documented their every move.

Both Kit and Mickey were set the task to capture the action, the landscape, portraits, the famous Mackenzie Country night sky and various other elements of the World Heli Challenge.

As you can see in the slideshows below both photographers created a mesmerising story and showcase of striking images that capture the drama of this exciting freestyle competition and the athletes within it.

Mickey Ross emerged the winner and took home a Canon EOS 5D Mark III for his efforts. Kit Rundle, our runner up enjoys a Canon Powershot G1X Mark II.

Please enjoy the slideshows below and come on a visual journey to the World Heli Challenge 2014.

Thank you to Canon for supporting the World Heli Challenge Canon Shootout.
