22-year-old Briar Peters grew up on a farm near Taihape, NZ and started skiing at Mt Ruapehu at the age of four. She attended boarding school in Wanganui where she joined the amateur school race team.
She started big mountain skiing in 2009 while attending Mount Aspiring College in Wanaka. She’s spent the last three years focusing on studies and now lives and works as a registered nurse in Hamilton, skiing Ruapehu on her days off. She recently spent a northern hemisphere season in Austria.
She’s juggled a lot of injuries over the last few years, most notably breaking her back in 3 places and being lucky to still be walking. After a year and a half of rehab this is her first major competition and her first time as a competitor in the World Heli Challenge.
